Staying at home for holidays might not sound adventurous enough or very exciting. Nevertheless you might see an interest in having a staycation for many interesting reasons. Here are five good reasons in why would you enjoy staying around for once. I am sure you will see a great interest and maybe you might even discover new things that you would not have imagined before hand.
1-Spend time with family
Staying in is a great way to bond with your children. Spending time together may be the best way to spend your holiday as a family. If you’re a part of a big family, then think about how you can help them find joy during their times of celebration. Take photos and share memories on social media, or spend quality time with those who are away at school for the holidays by using video chatting to keep in touch while still being able to enjoy each other’s company.
2-What to do with your time
Have you ever been stuck on a topic for writing an article? For me I have huge ideas in my head that I would like to write about but I’m not sure how to start or what should come first. To prevent this from happening, spending holidays at home gives you the chance to stop and think over your ideas and then write them down before starting to put them into action. No one likes feeling like they’re wasting time when they have a great idea that could benefit someone else if only they had more time. So focus on what you want to achieve this year and make it happen with an end goal in mind.

3-Maintain your home
The holiday season is a great time to spruce up the house with new decorations. I would personally recommend looking into homemade decorations as they’re cheaper to make and save you money. For example, you could go on a nature scavenger hunt while on a walk and collect some pinecones, twigs, or acorns. Then, when you’re back home you can use them to make a wreath or sculpture and put it on your front door. Or you could even make some homemade Christmas cards with photos of your family members and give them out to your friends and family.
4-Volunteer at local charity organization
Spending holidays at home doesn’t mean that you have to sit around all day doing nothing! There are plenty of ways that you can help out in the community around the holidays, especially if it’s something that interests you. Think about places such as senior homes or shelters for those who are less fortunate (or even your local food bank) where you can contribute with time spent volunteering during this time of year.
5-Try something new
If you’re out of ideas, it could be time to try something new. The entire year we are bombarded with the need for us to purchase products that can make life easier and more fun. Don’t be afraid to look at alternative ways of spending time without spending money on them. For example, you can create your own games and activities with things that you already have in the house such as pencils, paper, or even a hammer and nail. Or take up an item that would have been impossible during your childhood such as learning to ride a bike or play an instrument.
In conclusion, there are new dimensions to explore when you stay at home during holidays. You can see things on different angles and even gain some advantage compared to standard holidays. Be inspired and do not hesitate to leave a comment with more ideas.
